1 x National Instruments NI 9403 32 Channel, Digital Input/Output Module
Specifications
The National Instruments NI-9403 is a 32 Channel Digital Module for input or output with live line-to-line configuration capability. Each channel has transient isolation between the I/O channels and the backplane. This module has D-SUB front connectors and can be used with the CompactDAQ and CompactRIO platforms. The device has an update rate of 7 μs. With reconfigurable I/O (RIO) innovation (in CompactRIO only), the user can employ the LabVIEW FPGA Module to program the NI 9403 to implement high-speed counters/timers, digital communication protocols, pulse generation, and more. Other compatible software packages are the LabVIEW professional development system for windows, and LabVIEW Real-Time module. In a NI CompactDAQ Chassis, the user can operate the NI-9403 solely as a static Digital I/O Module (software timed). However, the user should consider that they cannot utilize these modules to route timing and trigger signals. Each channel has a DIO pin to which they can connect a digital input or output gadget. The 32 DIO channels are internally referenced to COM, so the user can utilize any of the four COM lines as a reference for the external signal. The user can independently arrange each DIO channel in software for input or output. The DIO channels have Schmitt trigger sources of input and are compatible with 5 V TTL logic gadgets. Each input channel has hysteresis for improved execution with noisy and non-monotonic input signals. Each channel additionally has a pull-down resistor and incorporates overvoltage, overcurrent, and short-circuit protection. The overcurrent protection permits only a predefined amount of current through the output channels to protect the NI 9403 module from short-circuits. If the 9403 NI card goes into an overcurrent state, the module sets all the DIO channels to high impedance for approximately 280 milliseconds. The device has an overvoltage protection of ±30 V. The NI device weighs 5.3 oz. It has a recommended operating temperature range of -40 °C to 70 °C, and a storage temperature range of -40 °C to 85 °C.
